On Fridays, the buy-ins go up and the crowds (and prize pools) get bigger. Bellagio’s 2pm tourney goes up in price to $1060, and you get $5000 in starting chips instead of the $3000 you get in their $540 tourneys. This cranks the patience factor up to 13.56, Skill level 6. Expect a lot of the top players in town to be there, but you’d better have a bankroll in the neighborhood of $18,000 to $20,000 if you want to start playing these regularly. These $1060 poker tournaments that Bellagio runs every Friday and Saturday are the biggest-money weekly tournaments in Las Vegas. Don’t be surprised if you see some top local pros in the field—Charlie Shoten, Freddie Deeb, etc. The Wynn noon tournament also moves its price up from $330 to $530 on Friday. The Wynn structure stays the same. Patience factor = 15.28, Skill level 6.
For smaller banks, in the evening the best offering is Orleans $105 no-rebuy tourney at 7pm. This tournament has a patience factor of 5.14, and often draws 200+ players. That’s a big prize pool for such a low-priced event, and the tournament has an excellent blind structure. There’s a good mixture of skilled players and fish galore.
